This year's annual American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge at Ocean City Elementary School raised $30,775. This will make the grand total donated by OCES students and their families throughout the years, to over $535,000. Top fundraisers were given the bonus of throwing SLIME AND ICE WATER all over PE Teacher, Mrs. Drocella and Custodian, Mr. Mills. It was a fun afternoon for everyone!

Local beekeepers Mr. Babcock and Mr. Lieb visited Ocean City Elementary School's 3rd graders on June 3rd, to teach the students all about why bees are critical pollinators and also about their life cycles. They even brought two sets of live bees so that the children could see them working in the hive. It was an exciting and informative visit for the students.

OCES fourth grade science students had the opportunity to work with WCPS Coach of Instructional Technology and Innovation, Nick Genovesi. Students learned how to create interactive presentations using the Numbers app on their iPads. Students will use this program to share the information they have been gathering for their animal research projects. The culminating activity for the unit will be a field trip to the Smithsonian Zoo in Washington, DC.
