Meet Sandra Wagner, Cafeteria Worker at Ocean City Elementary
4 years with Worcester County Public Schools
“I love when the students are happy with their meals!”
What She Loves About Her Work
The children
What People May Not Realize
One thing people don’t know about my job as a cafeteria worker is how physically demanding it is. We’re on our feet for hours, lifting, cleaning, cooking, serving, and keeping everything moving nonstop.
What She Loves Most About Her School Community
Very supportive

Meet Tracy Schur, Bookkeeper at Ocean City Elementary
5 years with Worcester County Public Schools
“When students come up to me for a hug, it shows me that they remember how I made them feel… that's what I feel most proud of – not because of numbers, spreadsheets or reports I complete – but because I was able to be someone who made them feel safe.”
What She Loves About Her Work
After spending 23 years working in accounting for a local municipality, I never expected how much I'd enjoy this job! Working at OCES, I still have the financial responsibilities of making deposits, check writing and reconciliations but what makes this role special is the interaction with all the children. From helping during lunch to settling 3 year olds down for rest time. It's hard to believe how quickly five years have flown by.
What People May Not Realize
People don't realize a school bookkeeper does a little bit of everything. One minute, I'm counting money for a deposit, to helping serve in the cafeteria, to helping with recess duty or just being there for kids. Helping out wherever is needed to make our school day successful.
What She Loves Most About Her School Community
I love my school community because it feels like my family, everyone from the students to the staff. The kids always brighten my day, and it just makes coming to work enjoyable.

Meet Katie Greiser, Educational Assistant at Ocean City Elementary
4 years with Worcester County Public Schools
“Watching kids reach milestones is my absolute favorite thing, no matter how small!”
A Proud Moment
A moment I felt really proud was when one of my students who typically didn’t vocalize what she wanted looked at me and used a whole sentence to ask for something. I felt like a proud mom!
What People May Not Realize
You have to be quick thinking, some things that work one day for a student may not work the next day. You have to be able to quickly adjust and adapt in order to effectively meet your students’ needs.
What She Loves Most About Her School Community
It feels like a close-knit family with tons of support all around you.
