This afternoon our Afterschool Academy students practiced their math skills at Math Night! Students participated in a variety of math activities and games. Each student received a bag with copies of all the games so they could play them at home with their family. A huge THANK YOU to Ms. Spicer for organizing the event and to our SDHS math helpers for assisting.

Recently, our PreK - 2nd grade students participated in an interactive musical experience by renowned drummer Devin Walker (also known as Uncle Devin). A big thank you to The Joshua M. Freeman Arts Foundation for bringing this opportunity to us!
In honor of Veterans Day, Mrs. Coleman's first grade students enjoyed a live zoom from Lieutenant Colonel Oles, a Marine Corps Veteran. Oles is related to 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Melanie Coleman. Lieutenant Col. Oles taught students all about his duties as a marine, including flying Osprey for three deployments and now a part of the air traffic control at Miramar Marine Corps Base, in San Diego California. Students really enjoyed asking him questions and having him engage in conversation with them. Thank you, Lieutenant Col. Oles for your service!
Students in Mrs. Wolf's third grade class are preparing for the holiday season. They recently celebrated all the things for which they are thankful, added feathers to the school's thankful turkey and created Thanksgiving lapbooks.

Our fourth graders turned into architects and designers during our annual gingerbread house project. Students used math skills to build their homes to correct specifications and then decorated their structures. Families joined in on all the fun today!
